Natural Dyeing
This is a rare opportunity to learn the art of plant dyeing from one of Australia’s celebrated textiles artists, Sally Blake.
Sally will give a general introduction to plant dyeing and the different techniques available, as well as a short history of the practice. This will be followed by a demonstration on how to make and apply plant based dyes using acacias and eucalypts.
Sally Blake is a Canberra based textiles artist. Her practice includes woven techniques, stitching, plant dyeing and paper work. Along with appearing in exhibitions around Australia, Sally has been recognised in France, Britain, Japan and New Zealand.
