Founded in 2006, Banque Vincent Bergerat (BVB) is a fictional artistic endeavour conjured by Vincent Bergerat. Similar to other artistic fictions of the 20th and 21st centuries – from Marcel Broodthaers’ Musée d’Art Moderne, département des aigles (1968) to Maurizio Cattelan’s sixth Caribbean Biennial (2001) – BVB has carefully considered every little detail to make the whole charade seem legitimate. Bergerat has created a currency, cheques and even actual transactions take place to make this fiction into a reality. Published by RVB Books (Paris).
