Films is photographer Paul Graham’s tribute to photographic film. A survey of Graham’s work in 2009 prompted him to reflect on the last 30 years of his career and to investigate the physical material that has made photography possible in the 20th century, namely, film. In Films, Graham has created mesmerising patterns of colour that are in fact greatly magnified images of the raw film emulsion or close-ups of the film’s structure – the red, green and blue chemical couplers that compose film emulsion.
