Stephanie Macdonald is a founding director of London-based 6a architects—best known for their contemporary art galleries, educational buildings, artists’ studios and residential projects, often in sensitive historic environments. Recently completed projects include a new timber, 68-room halls of residence at Churchill College, Cambridge, which was awarded an RIBA East Award (2017), and a new photography studio for photographer Juergen Teller, which in 2017 was awarded the RIBA London Building of the Year, an RIBA National Award and shortlisted for the Stirling Prize. In this lecture, Stephanie will discuss 6a architects’ approach to designing for education, leisure and the arts, keeping them at the heart of a vibrant and progressive culture.
